Bake Me a Cake

I wasn’t born with a sweet tooth. In fact, I only started growing one a couple of months ago when my sister introduced me to Davao’s only cake buffet. At the cake buffet- because my experience with cakes is rather limited- I just have two slices of the usual chocolate marble cake or any cheesecake available. Both cakes are delicious but not as visually enticing as I would have wanted ‘em to be.
So when I heard about the Bake Me a Cake blogging contest of KusinaMaria.com and DavaoFoodie.com, I told myself that I’m definitely going to give it a shot. I have a Must-try Cakes and Pastries List but because my sweet tooth is only half-erupted, there’s a lone entry in the cake category: The Ssaeng Cream Cake.

The Ssaeng Cream Cake (fresh cream cake) is sponge cake smothered with frosting and topped with fresh fruits and whipped cream. The Ssaeng Cream Cake is common in Korean bakeries and if I am to believe what’s written in the Asian forum I frequent, it is as delicious as it looks!
I hope I will be gifted with a layer of Ssaeng Cream Cake for Christmas because I can’t have the Ssaeng Cream Cake in January as I have to deal with the holiday weight gain by then (tee-hee!). Seriously, I can’t cook much less bake myself a Ssaeng Cream Cake so unless a Korean pastry shop like Paris Baguette opens in Davao City, winning this contest is my only hope.
