Blogging Frenzy at WordPress
27 May
Finally, I have a personal blog. Adding to my growing number of blogs is Blogging Frenzy, with my name uncharacteristically figuring itself into the blog’s URL.
I once thought that my other blog, Nurse in Cyberspace, is rightfully my personal blog. But the lure of potential earnings in blogging made me lose focus. Everytime I visited Nurse in Cyberspace, I felt detached from it.
The decision to start my personal blog brought forth a number of dilemmas. I had to take into consideration a number of things: platform, hosting, blog name, and domain name.
Probably the toughest decision I had to make is whether to use Blogger or WordPress. Most of my blogs are hosted by blogger and so I can say I am comfortable with its simplicity. However, being surrounded by people who always gush about the wonders of WordPress opened my eyes to its functionality and endless possibilities. And so WordPress it is. I simply decided to have the best of both worlds.
Another major thing I had to consider was choosing the right domain name. I am not quite comfortable with being readily searchable on the internet and my definition of social networking is limited to Plurk and so you can probably understand why I didn’t want to use my name as a domain name. But heck, if it’s a personal blog then I should own it, right?
I also took time in deciding on catchy name for my blog. First it was “Brendel blogs…” and a bunch of others and then I finally decided on Blogging Frenzy. Lyle says it’s kinda off because it sounds a little manic. But Blogging Frenzy is so me. Blogging, in my case, has to be frenzied and a little manic.
And then there was the tagline. I immediately thought of ”I blog because I have bad handwriting.” Lyle likes it but suggested I subsitute “bad” with “terrible”. And I loved it. And so I went rip-ripping my lifebook or journal as others call it.
I also had to choose the right WordPress theme for Bloggging Frenzy. The task was no-sweat for me as there is an abundance of WordPress themes. I chose this theme, Coffee Desk, because I love coffee and I totally dig the whole pen-and-notebook concept.
But of course, Blogging Frenzy at WordPress wouldn’t have materialized without Lyle’s help. He did the technical aspect of things from purchasing the domain name to looking for hosting to setting up the blog and to putting up the ads– stuff involving terms like name servers, Cpanel, and a slew of incomprehensible technical terms.
And so it was one roller coaster of a ride. I am done migrating my favorite posts from Nurse in Cyberspace. And I’m ready to embark on a blogging frenzy at WordPress.

Thanks for posting, I very much enjoyed reading your latest post. I think you should post more frequently, you obviously have talent for blogging!
wow, it’s great to have you onboard, why not migrate to wordpress? made the move already cheers!
I migrated some of my posts to WordPress already but some of my blogs must stay with Blogger. Inasmuch as I admire WordPress’ functionality, I do have a soft, soft spot for Blogger.
