That Saturday
19 Nov
At 5:30 am last Saturday, I was preparing the things that I needed to bring to the Practical Photojournalism Workshop for Bloggers when I received a phone call. The caller was an aunt informing me of the health status of a hospitalized relative.
Although she didn’t exactly verbalize it, my gut feel told me that the patient didn’t have much time left. And so I immediately called Lyle and informed him that I might not be able to join the workshop.
True enough, two hours after I arrived at the hospital, my uncle left this physical world to be reunited with his Maker. He was just 49.
The photojournalism workshop- made possible by the PR skills of blogging dynamo Ria Jose- was very successful. Although I was a bit sad because I missed the opportunity to learn photojournalism tips and tricks from Ms. Jojie Alcantara, I was happy because my friends and the other participants learned a lot of things and had fun during the event. And of course, I am proud that our start-up group, Avatar Media, has started organizing events with truly noble intentions.
The pictures taken during the workshop are all beautiful and each has its own story to tell, but my personal favorite would have to be this picture taken by Lyle Santos at the Butterfly House because it encapsulates everything about that Saturday:

The butterfly is a symbol of change and love. In many cultures, it is associated with spirits and souls.
Fly, Butterflies!
Bring change.
Spread love.
Live colorful lives.
And when it’s time to go,
Think not about pain and sorrow.
And leave only happy memories behind.

My condolences
