What I’ve Been Up To Lately
12 Oct
And so I must say I feel bad because I haven’t been updating this blog (and my other blogs) regularly. It is not that I ran out of topics to blog about. It’s just that, oh well, the lazy bug bit me.
Ever since I started blogging, I went through a number of “non-blogging” episodes. These self-imposed breaks from blogging usually last for weeks and even months.
I’d like to think that I have accomplished a couple of things these past few months. I wasn’t exactly very productive but I went to places, tried out something new, learned a few things, and met a handful of interesting people. Again, I acknowledge that these ain’t much by most people’s standards but hey, at least I was not that stuporous. :p
Anyway, here are the highlights of my existence for the past two months:
GenSan Tunafest

I, along with other bloggers from Davao, was invited to join GenSan’s Tunafest by Orman Manansala, the festival director himself.
To say that I had fun during the Tunafest is an understatement. Heck, I was a judge at the Mardi Gras competition, got a VIP pass to the festival’s activities, met lots of interesting people, and dined at GenSan’s best restaurants. Mayor Jun Acharon (probably the most blogger-friendly mayor in the Philippines) welcomed us and even treated us to a sumptuous dinner.
And so to Orman and our friends in GenSan (Avel, Ate Jinky, Kuya Arnel, Sir Gilbert, and Marzz), thank you for making my Tunafest experience unforgettable.
WordCamp Philippines 2009

I was one of the organizers of this year’s WordCamp which was held in Makati City last September 19. And I’m happy because not only was the event successful, I learned a thing or two about events organizing and met really cool people.
Running Errands, Managing the Household
My father has finally decided to spend a lot of time in the province to manage our farm. I was really saddened by his decision but I know that it’s his dream to develop our fruit farm now that he has retired.
Now that I am the oldest person at home when my dad is not around, I am responsible for managing the household, finances included. For somebody whose responsibilities were limited to bills payment and other errands, I am going through an extended adjustment period. There are times when I get a little too cranky because what little sleep I get at home is disrupted by matters needing my immediate attention.
Things Old and New
Although I haven’t been updating my blogs lately, I am online more than 16 hours each day doing stuff like reading emails, watching movies online, and checking on my social networking accounts. I also go out for coffee or dinner with Lyle and some friends. Sometimes, I go out alone to do nothing but, um, space out. :-)
Recently, I have been catching up on my reading and went back to updating my ebook collection. I also asked Lyle to teach me how to use an audiobook builder so I can finally move on to other audiobook titles (I never thought I’m going to say this but I have grown tired of listening to Ilyana Kadushin’s voice).
I am also back to getting excited over new episodes of The Office (US). I have always been a big fan of The Office ever since I was introduced to the guys of Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company.
I also signed up with Avistaz. And there’s always something to do when you’re registered with Avistaz. Tee-hee!
*****
My family will be celebrating my mom’s death anniversary on October 22 and I will be attending the 3rd Mindanao Bloggers’ Summit (MBS3) in Cagayan de Oro City on the 24th. Also, a trendy television series I like started airing last week and I do have a growing number of book and movie titles in my must-download list.
Having said that, I think I’m going to be quite busy for the rest of October.
