Gensan-Kalsangi 08.09

24 Aug

Since October 2008, I can’t remember how many times I took the three-hour bus ride to General Santos City.  In fact, this blog’s archive is a  testament to how often I visited GenSan to join blogging-related events and activities.

Early this month, Lyle, Blogie, and I received another invitation from Avel Manansala to spend a couple of days in the City of the Generals.  He wanted us to be there during Marzz’ birthday celebration.   We, of course,  said yes.

And because an invitation from the Fishman always meant days of food, fun, and excitement we were excited about the trip.  We took an early bus out of Davao City so that we will be in GenSan by lunchtime as we will be having lunch at the Dolefil Clubhouse in Kalsangi, Polomolok.

The Road to Kalsangi

It was my first time to visit Kalsangi.   I have heard about people gush about the  place  but all that never really prepared me for the wonderful climate, the sprawling greens, and its serene beauty.

What made my Kalsangi trip very enjoyable is that I was in the company of wonderful people, who, despite the everyday stresses of their personal lives, went out of their way to spend time with us.

I like my steak medium rare (many thanks to Ate Jinky and her friends from DOLE HR)

Celebrating a Friend’s Triumph

We barely had time to rest from our Kalsangi trip when it was time for dinner. Orman Manansala, GenSan’s newest and cuddliest blogger, treated us to a sumptuous dinner at Uno Cafe.  Orman just got promoted as Vice-President of Asia United Bank hence the feast.  We had steamed pangasius (I initially thought it was gay lingo for something), baby back ribs, adobong manok, fried rice, mustasa in garlic, and 8 treasures soup.

Marzz’ Olaer Birthday Bash

The primary reason why we traveled to GenSan that weekend was to attend Marzz’ birthday party.  His birthday celebration was held at Olaer Spring Resort (owned by the family of Ate Jinky).  There, we spent a couple of hours sharing good food while enjoying the unspoiled beauty of the springs.

Going Places, More Fun

Each time we travel to GenSan, Avel and the Generals make  each trip memorable for us.  They bring us to the best places in General Santos City and introduce us to the most interesting personalities.  But above all, our beloved friends from GenSan make sure that each trip we make is a gathering among friends.
